5 Tips for Pumping Yourself up

Don’t worry you are not alone, we have all been there. Even the most successful people in the world go through slumps. The difference is how long we stay in the slump. We will never always be motivated, but we can stay diligent.

To keep moving forward in your life and career you must keep going, even when you don’t want to. It sounds super easy; I can assure you it is not and you are not alone if pushing forward can be almost impossible some days!

However, the faster you can get yourself out, the faster you can get back to working on your ultimate goal and dream!

Before I share some tips to get your groove of motivation back, it is important to recognize the difference between wanting to procrastinate (guilty of this) and when you need to rest because you are burnt out. Listen to your intuition there. Exhaustion feels differently than procrastination.

Okay, let’s get into it! Here are 5 tips on how to pump yourself up quickly to keep going (even when you don’t want to).

1) Pick up Your Favorite Drink

When you are in a slump tasks that are normally fun and exciting can easily become an annoyance.

If you ever needed a more fitting time to treat yourself to your favorite drink, this is it! Just don’t go grabbing a beer in the middle of your workday. That is generally frowned upon and a huge productivity drainer. 🙂

What I mean by this is if you love a good latte from your local coffee shop, then by all means go pick yourself up that latte before you get started on your day.

Not only will you have the much-needed caffeine boost, each time you take a sip you are taking in positivity and happiness since that latte brings you joy. To produce our best work we want to be in almost a state of bliss mixed with passion, determination, motivation, and positivity. When you have something that brings a smile to your face it will help give you the push needed to get out of your slump!

2) Exercise

Ahhhh yes. The never-ending suggestion of exercise. But seriously though. It is like one big happy vitamin for your body and brain!

Have you ever heard of a runner’s high? I am not going to give this the justice it deserves however, exercise releases endorphins, and endorphins are your happy hormone naturally produced by your body. As Elle Woods says “Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don’t shoot their husbands, they just don’t.” (maybe the best movie of all time)

In all seriousness, exercise is known to make you feel good and when you feel good you are inspired to take chances or step out of your comfort zone. This is where you will see the most personal growth. Let exercise help you build the courage to step out of the box! The happier you are the more pumped up you will be to change the world or at least your life.

3) Write Down 1 Goal You Want to Accomplish That Day

Write down a goal or even 1 task you want to accomplish at the minimum that day. Make it fairly simple. Believe me, it feels great to cross things off a list!

In addition, your goals and tasks need to be achievable to be beneficial. You walk a fine line when it comes to narrowing down your goals.

If you are too ambitious you could dig yourself more into a slump. Writing down one thing that you want to accomplish that coincides with your long-term goal(s) reminds you of your purpose.

In other words, it reminds you of why you started. When you accomplish the one achievable goal that day you will feel good about your accomplishments and push yourself even harder tomorrow. Remember one step is better than zero.

Here are some great goal tracking sheets on Amazon. They have great reviews too!

4) Listen to Your Favorite Music

If you can, put on the best mix that makes you happy! No judgment here, play that Brittany and Spice Girls!!

Think back to the nights when you are getting ready to go out, you are most likely listening to a pump you up music mix. Why? Because you were pumping yourself up for a good night!

Now is the time to channel that inner partier and play the music that pumps you up (even if it is boy bands)! When you have good music going you will pump yourself up to get your work done and fill you with happiness.

Now go close your door, put on your headphones, and crank that music up. You can do this!!

5) Read Some Motivational Quotes

Putting things into perspective will help encourage your inner self that everything is going to be okay. Whenever I am in a slump, I read a lot of inspirational quotes or success stories.

I actually have 4 places where I check motivational quotes on a daily basis for little reminders to get my day started even when I am not in a slump. When I am having one of those days as I like to call it, I pull ALL of my motivational tricks out of the hat and double down. This usually consists of Pinterest, a good book, phone apps, Instagram, stickers, you name it I am a sucker for it.

A good motivational quote tugs at your heartstrings. It helps to look at them as a very personal way to improve yourself. If you aren’t ready to improve yourself just yet, motivational quotes could cause a negative effect. If you aren’t there yet, that is okay!

Just do some jumping jacks, drink a ton of coffee (maybe not a literal ton), write down a goal for the day, crank up your music, and check some quotes later.

Overall, motivational quotes can give you that extra boost to get yourself out of your slump and remind you that you are not alone. Another suggestion would be to have a happy journal, where every day you plan your schedule you also have to write a motivational quote. My Happy Planner has a section in it where each week I can write down a focus. This is where I tend to write down a quote I saw on Instagram or Pinterest.

The next time you are in a slump, the biggest thing to remember is you are not alone, there is an end in sight, and you have the power to get yourself out of it!

The longer you are in your slump the more time you are letting your competition have an opportunity to pass you.

The above tips are here to get you out of your slump as fast as you can so you can be back to creating a joyful, successful life of your dreams!

Most of all, you are capable of greatness. Don’t let anyone take that away from you, especially yourself.

With Love,
